This 20-part web documentary series takes a close, human look at everyday life in the field of care work across Vorarlberg, Austria. We followed nurses, caregivers, and the people they support capturing moments in private homes, care facilities, and in between.
From the Jennys, a couple who’ve been navigating mobility challenges since their youth, to Christine, a daughter caring for her mother through the stages of dementia, and Franz, who still finds joy in weekly farm work away from his nursing home the stories are personal, complex, and deeply human.
The second half of the series broadens the lens: we hear from people like Albert, a World War II veteran, and Jerónimo, a former political refugee from Nicaragua, as they reflect on aging, care, and everyday routine.
The goal throughout was to approach each subject with intimacy, honesty, and dignity letting real people and their stories speak for themselves.
We made „Pflege berührt“ with the main purpose of attracting interest in joining the nursing profession, and creating awareness – for those humans in need of physical and mental care, no matter the age. As of May 2020, over half a million viewers have watched the various stories on YouTube and Facebook combined.
