Following his Tiny Desk performance with Irreversible Entanglements, Aquiles Navarro came to Kasheme Gallery for a solo set shaped by ritual, improvisation and quiet intensity.
Raw brass, deep breath and electric stillness filled the room, while the images move between performance and stillness, held in red and black, with Aquiles at the centre.
My aim was to stay close to the music without interrupting it, capturing the trance and concentration behind the performance.
As Miles Davis said, “don’t play what’s there, play what’s not there.”
